We’ve been under the radar lately for a couple of reasons:

1. First off, Jesse and I had the opportunity to start a new venture called Sticker Stork! Which was inspired from both our buddies over at Conscious Box as well as a problem we kept running into with Kuborra. So be sure you check that out as well as pat yourself on the back because that project would have never been encouraged if it weren’t for the love and support from all our awesome fans, so thank you guys!
2. We also been doing some serious rethinking on what exactly Kuborra is and what direction we want to go in. And we’ve been doing some exciting restructuring to better get back to the roots on why Kuborra was born in the first place.

So if you don’t know why we originally started Kuborra: we simply wanted something that we could pour our love for design and sports into. And it has allowed us to do better than we expected!
Then as we grew, we noticed our friends and athletes were using Kuborra to get inspire and fuel themselves;
Ya know the Peterson bros making their own longboards, watching Sammy Winship journey in being the next Sage Cattebriga, Tyler Markley’s making some dope art, Garth Pratt’s videos just make me wanna… MMMM, I could go on for hours… We’re just incredibly stoked to see Kuborra not only being used for our own selfish creative reasons, but to let others use Kuborra to fuel the things they love to do.

And I think we got a little off track when started focusing on how we could take this company and turn it into the next Quicksilver (which, you can’t just do with the funds of two buys broke college kids), and that’s just not why we started Kuborra… so we apologized for getting derailed for a bit, but we’re back at it and as we have stoked fans like you guys that are willing to step in, use Kuborra in your own creative ways, that’s enough motivation for us.

We’re going to get back to designing products that we’re inspired to make just throughout our daily living. And fortunately for you guys, Jesse and I prefer to wear as high of quality products as we can afford to produce, so you can expect each piece we make to only get better.

We have no idea what’s going to happen in the future, but we look at it a lot like trying to learn a new trick – it takes a lot of practice, failing and a lot of learning. And to be honest, we’re still falling and racking up the bruises… but you can count on us to get up and keep trying!

We want to be transparent and as straight up with our fans as possible. People in the action sports community have notoriously been skeptical of people trying to pretend to be one of them. They can kind of act like an estranged child with commitment issues. Well we aren’t here to prove anything to anyone. We love all the sports that Kuborra represents and in the end we don’t care if anyone believes us or not. We didn’t start a company to be “cool”. We want to treat you like the stranger next to us dropping in right before us. We just want to just give you some stoke, maybe inspire you and high-five you after achieving that new trick/goal/project you’re working on.

And not to brag, but our shirt designs rock! We aren’t just typing a generic phrase onto a tee and expecting you to eat it up. Have you seen them!? The 365 Tee should be behind glass! Everything we produce is inspired by inspiration from our fans and passions in our own lives; hence our slogan, “Passion Driven, Action Risen”.
We are your shredding buddies, not just your clothing provider. We don’t expect patronage in exchange for friendship.

All we need is your continued support. We’re stoked for the new changes that are in the works and pumped that we have supporters, fans, and friends to experience it with us. We aren’t perfect but we are willing to crash and burn if it means we are getting just a little bit closer to our potential. That is what Kuborra means to us. We love you all.

The Kuborra Team

We were fortunate enough to kick it with Macklemore and Ryan Lewis before an epic cocert they put on up in Corvallis, OR. We took that and some juicy on-stage footy we got and cut up this edit together for all you fans out there!

The Jam

Around 9:30 Hamilton Birkeland, Joeseph Horner, Justen Jacobsen and I grabbed some doughnuts and chocolate milk to start the day off right! Participants started to show up after that. We wanted to start at 11am but didn’t start till 11:40am… but that didn’t kill the stoke at all! The riders had a 30 min jam sesh while the judges wrote down the goods and the crashes and such. Then to finish the slide jam off we did a longest slide; first hands down then stand up slides. Both won by Parker Cox. The overall stoke of the slide jam was incredible considering it was the end of the semester and finals were the next week. Everyone was just so happy how it turned out. For the slide jam there were 19 participants.

There were plenty of prizes for all and people were amped about everything the sponsors had tossed out. Everyone was extremely happy to walk away with a piece of gear or swag to prove they did something. Then after the prizes everyone gathered around for some sticker tossing!! A rain of free stickers flooded the air with excitement!

The Outlaw Race

Because the music festival was at Targhee the same day as the race, we decided to have it out in Butte by “R” mountain. We first grabbed some grub at Taco bell where we geared up and switched wheels, and bushing for the race and than proceeded to the hill. When the hill was in sight we stopped off the race hill and those who had leathers put them on. ( The people who live on the hill…. hate the boarders so we had to make this an in and out thing) We had a practice run for everyone, than did two heats of 4 (we only had 8 racers). The top two went on to finals. Two friends of mine from Montana placed 1st and 2nd while Xan was in third. We also had a butt board race with Noah Clarke, Justen Jacobson and myself. Justen Won and recieved A Schematics Tee!

Now, granted, it was fun. It may have been the most fun you’ve ever had. You explored a world rich with magic or technology or adventure (or all three and more). You traveled through places you couldn’t even imagine, and took actions you’ve never dreamed of. You defeated monsters and villains who were bent on destroying you. It was exhilarating.

Let’s be honest, though: all of it was virtual. It wasn’t real. When you power down the console, you’re back in your apartment. No zombies, no dragons, no monsters, no spaceships, no spells.

So what do you have to show for the 40-plus hours you spent?

Well, we talked about fun. It was a lot of fun. You’ve also honed your thumbs and index fingers, and you’ll probably be more adept at navigating the next game you play.

But besides that, you probably haven’t gained anything substantive, and you have a hole in your pocket roughly the size of two or three paychecks.

You’ll enter the arena of reality tomorrow with nothing gained. You will have no new applicable skills to use. The new friends you made will all be stuck on the hard drive of your console. The muscles you built serve you only in the game.

But hey, you got your recreation. You’re all refreshed for a new day of school or work tomorrow. Probably. Personally, playing certain video games just makes me more agitated. And there are better ways of finding recreation.

How much money did you spend? Well, we could say you spent a total of around $360, including the game itself and the console. What could you have spent that money on? It’s enough for a season pass at Grand Targhee in Wyoming. It’s enough for a new set of climbing gear, a longboard, or a skateboard, if you’d like to start a new hobby. It’ll take a nice chunk out of the price of that new bike, snowboard, or set of skis you’ve been eyeing. And it’s certainly enough for quite a few excursions around Idaho.

And your time? Well, as soon as you stop playing the game, you’ll have 40 hours to spend over the next few weeks.

So get off the console. Go outdoors and do something new. Spend your money and time on something that matters: something that will last. Get some friends and have your own, real adventure. You’ll forge real relationships and gain real skills, and all of it won’t disappear at the push of a button; your memories, at the very least, will last a lifetime.

We don’t believe that charity should be a selfish investment.

When we started Kuborra we wanted to do something different. We have used almost all our profits to benefit the environment, communities, and aspiring athletes. Since our inception over a year ago we have had a large amount of success but not a single person in our organization has taken a penny of profits. Everything has gone to charity, expanded our available products or been invested in organically produced material. We have planted over 150 trees to rebuild our forests. We try to offer the best quality product for the cheapest price. We aren’t in this to take advantage of people. Our investment is IN people. You can trust that our prices are set at an amount that will allow us to grow and become something special without taking advantage of you. We aren’t here to take every penny we can from our supporters. We are banking on good guys finishing first. People are smarter now and they are tired of supporting people without common values. You wont see anyone in this company in the courts for fraud or money laundering. If you see us anywhere you will probably see us on the ski lift, out on the lake or maybe jumping a bike into a river. We aren’t here just to make our money because money isn’t our passion, life is.

We hear this at least a few times every week. If you are reading this, there is a good chance you have been guilty of it at least once. That’s ok, we love you  :)  This isn’t a bad thing to hear. We are stoked when people want to spread the love. The problem with this is that we didn’t start this brand just to give people products with no meaning. We started this brand because we wanted to do something new and be something different. To us, being different isn’t just winning people over with free stuff.

This world is run on companies controlling their fan base with strategic discounts, sales effective incentives, contests, and physiologically catchy taglines. In the world today, psychologists have a higher demand for marketing than they do for counseling. Brands know how to get inside your head!

To put things simply – We don’t know how and that’s not our purpose.

Every incentive we have, every contest we sponsor has a purpose. We make decisions based on our values and our vision, not on sales figures. We are a new kind of company: an environment and consumer conscious company with values. We are not represented by just our clothing. We are represented by our love for life and a desire to push ourselves to new limits. So if we aren’t represented by just our clothing, why should you be?

Clothing isn’t the root of why you do what you do. It doesn’t magically make you “cool” or “pro” like most brands want you to think. It represents a way of life and a set of values. Kuborra’s products represent the movement of people that simply love life. People are tired of being used by businesses and looked at like sheep ready to have their extra cash sheared off every few months.

You represent us by loving life like we do. You represent us by trying new things and reaching new heights. Our products push a movement and a way of life, not just a brand. Our products vindicate and establish the lifestyle; they aren’t a lifestyle in themselves. So the point isn’t to push a product, it is to push a way of thinking.

Don’t get us wrong, when we have a chance, we love to spread the swag love and give away our product. We try to do it in ways that promote people to not just share our brand name but our mission with the world. We want to hook everyone up but we don’t get joy from someone just getting a free product that has no meaning to them. We get joy from someone understanding our vision and seeing new potential in themselves.

We obviously want people to rep Kuborra’s gear; that’s why we try so hard to make it the highest quality product on the market. While that is true, we want people to rep our lifestyle first and our brand second.
